A Night in the Caravan

7.30pm: A lovely summer evening.

The low sun behind the trees makes everything glow golden and green. Long shadows on the pond and interference patterns on the surface from fish ripples.

Across the pond through shaggy, 7 foot Inula magnifica flowers, we can see the new bright Robinia frisia trees against purple loosestrife and a sea of soft pale Michaelmas daisies.

It’s cool enough to wear a fleece. A gentle breeze barely moves the trees, but ripples through the bullrushes.

Supper: sausages, onions and Greek giant beans cooked on the brazier smell delicious. We sit near the pond and enjoy the view while we eat.
We have aired the 70’s Cheltenham caravan and brought bedding out for us and for the dog. He is deliriously happy.

The brazier is burning full blast, keeping us warm as the sun goes down, and hopefully discouraging the midges.

A restful night in the caravan, and a lie-in, with coffee, more warm figs from the tree, and the newspapers.
